ANTHONY KAUN HAI?

Today’s movie : ANTHONY KAUN HAI?

Star Cast :Sanjay Dutt..... Master Madan, Arshad Warsi.... Champ, Minissha Lamba.... Jiya, Anousha Dhandekar..... Rosa, Raghuveer Yadav.... Magician Raghu Sharma, Gulshan Grover.... Detective Suraj Singh

My Rating : 2.5 /5

Anthony Kaun Hai? is another movie from the hit pair of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. The entire movie circles around finding out who is Anthony...

It's a flashback and the transition between past and present is in synchronisation.. You don't feel like asking yourself everytime whether it's present or past, like I was doing in Moksh, the Arjun Rampal starrer movie... And one more thing.. There are no more Black & White flashbacks.. it's all colour movie.. ;)

Sanjay Dutt has played a straight role of a no nonsense man. His cold blooded murders at the hotel seem to stretch reality to its limits. One may add that he's a person with a heart for god people. Arshad Warsi has again done a commendable job... As he has changed so many getups but still managing them all. The fact that he has matured as a n actor is evident from this film.

The actress from Viruddh seems to have learnt a tad more of Hindi and has played a short and sweet and gorgeous role.. But the other actress Minissha Lamba has not been very good to her role.. She needs to put emotions in her presentation... I felt like dialogues were dry.. :(
Gulshan Grover, as an indian police officer, has played his part well though his occasional humming of songs appear out of place at times..

The movie is an interesting comparision to the film "Chocolate". The only difference being the truth.. In Chocolate, it's a framed lie, but here in AKH it's a true story...

Dimensions:

As always, The question is same - What did this movie tell me?

You may think that it was an all fun and no sense movie but hey! don't jump to conclusions very hastily. In next few lines I shall show you some real striking aspects of the movie...

Firstly, Indian cinema, of late has movies with bizarre endings - some of them pleasant, some onexpected and some untold. While the actor in earlier films would ruin his life for his lost love, the actor here moves on. Now this is new to us and this is what appeals me.. Movies these days are trying to show us a new dimension and that says to move on.. To cherish life and welcome new things...

Secondly, and related to the first point, is the fact that this movie somehow somewhere questions a so-called myth - "Love happens once in life". Champ loved Roza and then he loves GIa. His love for one was no less than the love for the other but yes, one at a time... ;) I might sound offensive to so called Real Lovers, but believe me or not, the in-thing now is - Love all you can but if you love yourself, leave when that is the only option. Go ahead, start a new life, find a new love and love your love and life.. Live life and live the best!

Finally, In the last scene of the movie, Gia asks Champ to part with the diamonds of some 10 crores if he loved her... Not surprising, if like other indian movies he does as told... But in the next blink, unlike other movies, Gia tells him to get those back that she was simply testing him.. Now this is what I call a practical girl... This movie somewhere stresses the fact that it's good if you have some ethics and values in life but be practical and handle those ethics carefully, so that you don't smash your life...

LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI

Today’s movie : LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI

Star Cast : Arshad Warsi - Circuit, Boman Irani - Lucky Singh, Vidya Balan - RJ Jahnvi, Dia Mirza - Simran, Jimmy Shergill - Victor D'souza, Munna Bhai - Murali Prasad Sharma.

Story Line : Comedy..

My Rating : 3.5 /5

First of all I thank you for your fabulous responses to Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna review.

Today’s movie, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, a continuation of Munna Bhai MBBS, is an earnest effort to reestablish the Indian edifice of bonhomie. Chummy character of Munna Bhai gets chummier in this movie. It’s one of the best dishes served by Bollywood which contains flavor of love, belief, inner strength, brotherhood and clean comedy which you can enjoy in your home with all family sitting together.

Munna Bhai and Circuit are the same but this time Vidya Balan has taken the actress’ role. The rising actress has played her role beautifully and I think this film will definitely be another feather in her cap. Listen to “Good morning Mumbai” on radio and you instantly become her fan. Songs are lively and the choreography has been natural to fit Sanjay Dutt’s persona. The title song “Lage raho munnabhai” is also good.

The movie starts with tapori style activities and slowly moves on to rather sincerity. Many questions have been raised on our present day society and moral values. How far have we drifted from our culture? If you really understand what the movie’s trying to convey, you will see how beautifully the contents of immense seriousness have been served with a tinge of comedy and laughter. If you have got the slightest desire to change for the betterment, then this movie will definitely imbue and help you do the same.

The movie is really powerful -- when you go inside the theatre, you either get revamped or at least come out thinking about a revamp.

So, now if you’ve already been there, no probs, you know it all what I said. And if you haven’t been to the theatre yet, drop everything and go to the theatre first. No body knows, you are a better “You” tomorrow.

Dimensions:

This movie, in the name of chemical changes, recalls Bapu, his virtues and his visions of the free India. It has beautifully portrayed how those principles of “Satya and Ahimsa” are still alive and can be efficiently and powerfully implemented in our life, in the 21st century.

Secondly, this movie says that win your enemy with love. If someone hits you, you don’t hit him back.

Somewhere, somehow, this movie has also portrayed the power of Love when it shows a dramatic and complete revamp of Munna when he falls in Love. This may appear a bit dramatic, but if you have known love sometime or the other, you may believe it.

Teachings of the movie are same as of Bapu and can be summarized as below—

  1. Speak truth and be fearless.
  2. If you do wrong to someone, say “Sorry”. It takes a lot of guts to say “Sorry”.
  3. Don’t ever reciprocate hatred.
  4. Importunate your rights in kind and innocuous fashion.
  5. Always do right things and you need not lie.
  6. No profession is shameful.
  7. Drop superstitions.
  8. Help others as much as you can.
  9. Life is the greatest possession you have, don’t ever lose it.
  10. Good times and bad times keep switching, so don’t worry if your times is not good, it will last soon.
  11. Finally, don’t forget the teachings of those great saints and try your best to follow them; they will fetch you more benefits than you can think of.
So, now if you’ve already been there, no probs, you know it all what I said. And if you haven’t been to the theatre yet, drop everything and go to the theatre first. No body knows, you are a better “You” tomorrow.
